Afa Zada is a passionate storyteller, wellness entrepreneur, and devoted mother who believes in the magic of the stars and the power of bedtime stories. She is the author of three unique books that blend imagination, healing, and heart — including her newest release Tales Under the Stars, a zodiac-inspired bedtime collection for children. As our author of the day, she tells us all about Tales Under the Stars. What inspired you to combine astrology with children’s bedtime stories?I’ve always loved astrology and storytelling — they’re both tools for understanding ourselves and the world. When I became a mother, I was checking her natal chart, checking her moon sign to design her room, and also to know what kind of skills she has. That’s when I realized: what if I could offer parents gentle, zodiac-inspired stories that speak to a child’s soul? How did your experience as a mother shape the direction of this book?Motherhood was the blueprint. Watching my daughter’s moods, curiosity, and imagination made me realize how powerful bedtime stories could be when they’re emotionally attuned. I wanted to write stories that would motivate her. Because we are all different and sometimes asking fish to climb trees does not make sense. Each story aligns with a zodiac sign — how did you balance astrological traits with engaging, age-appropriate storytelling? That was a fun challenge. I studied each sign’s emotional core — not just the stereotypes. Then I translated that into storylines children could connect with: adventures, friendships, learning moments. I used simple language to create this book, also English is not my first language :)Were any signs more difficult to write for than others? If so, why?Honestly, Scorpio gave me a little pause. It’s such a deep, intense energy — which can be tricky to simplify for kids. But then I reframed it through the lens of emotional strength and trust. Definitely for older kids with a moon in scorpio I will write deductive storiesHow did you decide which emotional lessons or virtues to highlight for each sign?I asked myself: What does this child need to hear to feel seen? I paired core zodiac traits with a supportive message — like bravery for Aries, or patience for Virgo. Also before each story I give tips for parents as to what kind of games to play with kids according to their moon and sun sign. The language is gentle and emotionally supportive. Did you collaborate with any child development or psychology experts while writing? No I didn't:) because we all have a child inside. I just entertained my inner child. The book emphasizes emotional awareness and self-confidence. Why is that so important for young readers today?Because the world is loud — and our kids are feeling it. They need tools to understand their feelings, regulate emotions, and trust their inner voice. When kids feel seen and loved for who they are, not who they’re told to be, that builds lifelong confidence. That’s the seed I hope these stories plant. How do you hope parents and caregivers use this book during bedtime or other rituals?I hope it becomes a calming ritual — a sacred little moment to wind down, connect, and open the heart. Also before each story I give sets of games or entertainment tips for kids according to their moon and their inner power. You mention that this book helps kids “feel seen.” How do you think stories can offer that sense of validation?Stories are mirrors. When a child hears a tale that reflects their emotions or personality, they light up. It tells them: “You’re not too much. You’re not wrong. You’re understood.” That’s the magic of storytelling — it affirms who we are without needing to fix or change anything. What kind of feedback have you received from readers so far? Any responses that surprised or moved you?I’ve had parents tell me their kids ask for specific zodiac stories over and over — or that a story sparked a deep bedtime conversation. One mom said, “My daughter finally felt like someone understood her,” and that meant everything. It’s those tiny moments that feel huge. What’s the next project or story idea on your horizon?I’m playing with the idea of a soulful parent-and-child journal — with zodiac themes, affirmations, and prompts. I also have a wellness book for conscious moms in the works. But no matter the format, my mission is the same: to make energy work and emotional literacy accessible, beautiful, and grounding.
